8-Day Morocco Tour: Tangier to Marrakech via Chefchaouen, Fes & Sahara Desert

Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen

Meet and greet at Tangier Port or Airport. Tangier, known as the "Gateway to Africa," is one of Morocco’s most fascinating northern cities.

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an optional short tour of Tangier's old medina and surroundings before departing for Chefchaouen. Travel through beautiful valleys and traditional Berber villages nestled in the Rif Mountains.

Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City, check in to your hotel and enjoy free time to explore its charming blue-painted streets and whitewashed houses. Visit the lively Souika market, the historic Kasbah, and the picturesque Outa El Hammam Square. Later, take a walk to the refreshing Ras El Ma Springs.

Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast, depart for Fes through the scenic Rif Mountains and olive groves.

Visit Volubilis, Morocco's best-preserved Roman archaeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the ancient ruins with a guided tour and discover the fascinating history of Roman North Africa.

Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. After lunch, enjoy a short sightseeing tour including Bab Mansour Gate, the Royal Granaries, Sahrij Swani Basin, the old medina, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.

Later, continue to Fes.Overnight in Fes.

Day 3: Fes Guided Sightseeing Tour

Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, Morocco's oldest imperial city and spiritual capital.

Begin with a visit to the impressive Royal Palace gates. Continue to the ceramics district, where skilled artisans create beautiful traditional pottery and mosaics.

Visit the famous Chouara Tanneries, where leather has been processed using traditional methods for centuries. Then explore the maze-like alleys of the UNESCO-listed Fes Medina with a local guide.

Discover bustling souks, historic madrasas, artisan workshops, and the renowned Al Quaraouiyine University, considered one of the oldest universities in the world.

After a full day of exploration, return to your hotel.

Overnight in Fes.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, depart for the Sahara Desert.

Travel through Ifrane, often called the "Switzerland of Morocco" due to its European-style architecture and clean streets. Continue through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you may encounter Barbary macaques.

Enjoy lunch in Midelt before continuing through the spectacular Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and breathtaking landscapes.

Arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. From here, enjoy a camel trek (or optional 4x4 transfer) to your desert camp.

Experience the magic of the Sahara with sunset views, sandboarding, traditional Berber music around the campfire, and a delicious Moroccan dinner under a sky full of stars.

Overnight in a luxury or standard desert camp.

Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness a spectacular Sahara sunrise.

After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4 vehicle. Visit Rissani's traditional market if it coincides with market day.

Continue through Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, before heading to the magnificent Todra Gorge. Enjoy a walk through the towering canyon walls and along the refreshing river.

In the afternoon, travel through scenic valleys and unique rock formations to reach Dades Valley.

Dinner and overnight in Dades Valley.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech After breakfast, depart for Marrakech.

Travel through Kalaat M'Gouna, known as the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual Rose Festival and locally produced rose products.

Continue through Ouarzazate, known as the "Hollywood of Morocco," before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. This spectacular fortified village has served as the backdrop for many famous films and TV productions, including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones.

 

After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260 m).Arrive in Marrakech in the early evening. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 7: Marrakech Sightseeing Tour

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech, the Red City. Visit the beautiful Menara Gardens, the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa.

Explore the vibrant souks and artisan quarters before enjoying lunch.

In the evening, discover the magical atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, filled with storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, food stalls, and local performers.

Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 8: Marrakech – Airport Transfer

After breakfast, enjoy some free time depending on your flight schedule.

At the appropriate time, transfer to Marrakech Airport for your departure.

Tour Plan

Day 1 : Tangier – Tetuan – Chaouen

Arrival at Tanger and pick up at the port or airport in the same city. Departure to Chefchaouen, stop in Tetuan, the Spanish city, arrival in Chaouen. We went for a visit to the city of Chefchaouen. We will walk through its streets and between their old houses of blue and white, and also we will contemplate its panoramic views. Accommodation and breakfast at the hotel and dinner at the square of Chefchaouen.

Day 2: Chaouen – Roman ruins – Meknes – FEZ

We went to Fes, It borders the forest of Rif. Arrival at the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, the ruins with “optional” local guide. Continuation to Meknes, City that reached its peak thanks to the Sultan Moulay Ismail.Visita of the Palace and the gate Bab Mansour famsa, Give the Maa and the barn. We will then go to Fez. dinner and overnight in Hotel/Riad

Day 3: FEZ – FEZ

Full day dedicated to the discovery of the intellectual realm city. Numerous are the monuments that you can visit: Madrassas (Koranic schools): Chahrij,Bouinania Attarin. Souks, FES El-Jedid, the Karaouine mosque (first University in the world). dinner and overnight in Hotel/Riad.

Day 4: FEZ – Ifrane – Azrou – Monkey forest – Erfoud – desert of Merzouga

From Fez, we will go towards the Middle Atlas, visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. The following people will be “the rock” Azrou, Berber village known for its handicraft, carpets and wood sculpture, then arriving to Midelt. Follow the road for Tizi Talghemt or neck of the camel, a 1.907 metres above sea level. The relief is awesome, the mountains are completely nude, lined with a purple coat. Arrival at Errachidia and commit themselves at the crossing of the massif of Tafilalet to the Palm Grove of Erfoud. Desert night address in Haima Berber camp.

Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – The Todra Gorge – Valley of roses – Palmeraie of Skoura – Ouarzazate

Exit on the highway to the Palmeraie of Rissani and Jorf located on the right bank of the Oued Ziz, then to the Ksar de Touroug; framed by spectacular oasis. Tinejdad then pass before reaching Tinerhir after eating will stroll through the Todra gorges. Then go through the beautiful valley Boulmane Dades visiting Kelaa Me Gouna-Valley of the Roses-, in full splendor during the month of may. Arrival Ouarzazate, possibility to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, which was the residence of the Pasha of Marrakech.

Day 6: Ouarzazate – AIT Ben Haddou – Talouet – Marrakech

We will go to Marrakech by the port of Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m), “neck of the grasses”. The descent is carried out by an alternative track with option to visit the famous kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou a castle declared as world heritage by the Unesco. Then continue our path towards the Capital of “The Pacha Glaoui” Marrakech visit of his palace located in the kasbah of Talouet. From there take the road of the port of Tichka curves than that offered a spectacular view with a multitude of colors on the plain of the Haouez, Arrival at Marrakech. Dinner and overnight in Hotel/Riad.

Day 7: Marrakech – Marrakech

In the morning visit of this city that gave its name to Morocco. Extends to the majestic snow-capped Atlas planned part of the year.
